Palma City Council has launched a new campaign to encourage the adoption of animals currently housed at the Municipal Animal Protection and Health Centre in Son Reus, with a particular focus on dogs and cats. The initiative was presented this Monday and aims to continue promoting responsible adoption, especially in the weeks leading up to Christmas.
The campaign runs under the slogan “Adopt them. They also wish for a happy Christmas” and is the result of a collaboration between the municipal Animal Welfare Department and the Municipal Transport Company (EMT), which will help raise awareness by displaying campaign posters across various public transport facilities.
So far this year, a total of 560 cats and 280 dogs from Son Reus have found a new home, figures that reflect a growing public awareness of animal welfare. At present, the centre is caring for around 90 cats and 80 dogs awaiting permanent homes, while 2023 data confirms a positive trend, with nearly 600 cats and 300 dogs adopted throughout the year.
