A fire broke out in the early hours of the morning at the Sa Feixina Christmas market in Palma, prompting a rapid response from Palma’s fire brigade and causing material damage to several festive decorations. The alert was raised shortly before 3:00 am, when one of the light displays at the market’s entrance from Passeig Sagrera caught fire.
Fire crews brought the blaze under control within minutes, preventing it from spreading to the market stalls or nearby trees. The area was secured once the fire was extinguished, and no injuries were reported, emergency services confirmed.
The National Police have opened an investigation to determine the cause of the incident and are considering the possibility that the fire was deliberately started. At the time, the market’s lighting system was switched off, ruling out an electrical fault. The incident caused concern among nearby residents and traders, who were surprised by how quickly the flames spread in the early hours of the morning.
