With more than 90,000 Instagram followers, two health-focused businesses, a podcast, and a Sunday running club, Amy Lauren is one of the most driven female entrepreneurs in Mallorca’s Santa Catalina scene. Known for Coco’s Deli and A Matcha A Day, she combines fitness, food, and social media with discipline and intention — and a whole lot of ice baths. She spoke to Humans of Mallorca about how her childhood shaped her mindset, the struggles behind the scenes, and why asking for help made her stronger.
Tell us about your background.
I was born in Scotland, but I’ve lived in Mallorca for over 20 years — it’s home now. I had most of my education here, with learning experiences in other places too. I grew up in a competitive sports environment, which really shaped me. Even when I was the best at something, I never felt superior. I always wanted to push myself and keep growing.
My mother, Jennifer, has always been an inspiration. We’re incredibly close and she even works with me now — I couldn’t do everything I do without her. From her, I learned work ethic, empathy, and inner strength.
What’s a typical day like for you?
A lot of people don’t see everything that goes on behind the scenes. I not only manage the administrative side, but also run four social media accounts: my fitness page – @justamylauren, Coco’s Deli, A Matcha A Day, and the podcast I do with my mom, Trendy Talk. Each of these projects has Instagram, TikTok, and YouTube, which takes a lot of time and planning.
I also organize events; right now, for example, I’m preparing one at Tereno Club in Palma — a padel event with matcha.
While I don’t handle food or drink orders, I do manage everything related to packaging, utensils, napkins, etc. That’s why I love waking up early: it gives me clarity to start the day.
I train from 7:30 to 8:30 am — strength training five times a week, Monday to Friday. Then I usually stop by A Matcha A Day in Palma. I often have a matcha there, check how things are going, clean up if needed, and chat with the team to make sure everything is up to standard.
Then I have breakfast in Santa Catalina, and around noon I head to Coco’s Deli, where I do the same, and stay present until we close at 4:00 or 4:30 pm.
Depending on the day, I have training with Jordi, or we go for a walk or run. We also run a Sunday morning running club together. After that, I just eat and go to bed. I’m usually asleep by 9:00 pm.
What was your first big professional success?
Opening Coco’s Deli and seeing how people connected with it from day one. That feeling of pride and excitement is something I’ll never forget.
Were there times you didn’t know how to move forward?
Definitely. Especially when I felt I’d given everything and still wasn’t seeing the results I hoped for. Moments of anxiety and insecurity were really tough.
How and why did you get into that situation?
From overload, lack of rest, self-imposed pressure, and trying to do everything on my own. Also due to unresolved personal issues.
What did you learn from that experience?
That taking care of your mental health is just as important as anything else. That you don’t have to carry everything alone. And that hard times really do make you stronger.
What’s the most exciting thing about your job?
Connecting with people and seeing my ideas take shape as spaces or products that inspire others. But the most rewarding part is being able to provide work for a team of 10 and watch each of them grow in their craft.
What are you most proud of?
Creating two businesses from nothing. Not giving up when things got hard. And being able to inspire other women.
