Adèle Chrétien, a talented French photographer, has found her haven in the tranquil village of Pina, Mallorca. With a background that spans continents and diverse passions, she’s turned a lifelong love of photography, inherited from her family, into a career that empowers others. Whether through branding or intimate boudoir photography, Adèle’s work helps people rediscover their confidence and share their stories with the world. In this interview, she shares her journey, her connection to Mallorca, and her vision for the future.
Where were you born?
I was born in Dunkerque, France.
Where did you study?
In France, Australia and Northern Ireland.
What did you want to be when you grew up? So many things! Midwife, lawyer, travel agent…
Where do you live now and why do you like this place?
I live in the small village of Pina and I love the tranquility there.
How did you choose your profession?
I always follow opportunities that happen to come up and I always follow my heart. I didn’t choose photography, it chose me. I’ve always had a camera in my hands because my grandfather and my mum were both passionate photographers, but I never imagined it would become my profession.
Tell us a bit about your career.
I came to Mallorca for an internship in digital marketing for a sustainable fashion designer. Soon after, I created my first business in social media. I started doing photography for my social media clients and one thing led to another. I now fully focus on photography. I am passionate about helping people be more visible in their lives and businesses, and photography is my tool to do that.
I specialize in branding photography. This allows me to make my clients’ vision come to life. They can then showcase their business and share their gift with the world. I also specialize in boudoir photography. I love the way sensual and intimate portraits help people, women mostly, reconnect with their inner power, their sensuality and fall back in love with their bodies. I believe that a woman who knows her worth has the power to change the world.
What was your first success?
On a personal note, going to Australia when I was 17. On a professional level, becoming self-employed when I first started my business in 2018 and getting my first clients.
What are you most proud of? Why?
Going after my dreams and creating the lifestyle I always dreamed of. Being resilient and not stopping until I get to where I want to be.
How is Mallorca better than Barcelona or Madrid?
I love Madrid, it’s a beautiful city with incredible architecture and art. Barcelona is too big for my liking. Mallorca has won my heart because it has everything I want: a walkable city with plenty of art galleries, nice restaurants and lots of events always going on. It’s international and it feels safe. We’re lucky to have both the mountains to enjoy hiking, as well as the sea to make the most of the summer. We have small villages, nature, and a beautiful city. I can’t see myself living somewhere else, for now…
What professional plans do you have for this year?
I hope to continue to empower women through my photo sessions. Next year, I’d love to open my own boudoir studio.
What is your goal in life?
To live a daily life I’m in love with — I think if you enjoy your day to day, you’ve won. So, I’ve already won, I just want to keep on living that dream life.
How do you see Mallorca in 2030? What changes would you like to see?
More quality tourism, focusing on authentic experiences instead of all-inclusive mass tourism.
