Tucked away from the bustling tourist paths, ‘L’Informal Tacos’ (Plaça Nova de la Ferreria, 5, Centre, Palma) stands out for its exceptional food and warm, welcoming service. This laid-back taco bar, located in a modest neighborhood, is a true must-visit for anyone craving authentic and inventive Mexican flavors with a local twist.
Pros:
– a functional interior with simple furniture and slightly worn metal chairs, plenty of daylight, and a very friendly atmosphere;
– the tables are surrounded by a diverse crowd: couples on dates, large groups of friends, mothers with babies, office workers on lunch breaks, and a few neat tourists looking around in amazement;
– the menu is crafted with sincere love for the modern global fascination with Mexican cuisine, offering everything you need to enjoy and make you want to return again and again;
– “Quesadilla Pibil” (€9.20) is a thin, hot, crispy corn tortilla stuffed with tender pork, lime cream, guacamole, and flavorful pico de gallo;
– In the “Baja California” tacos (€9.90), the star is crispy tempura corvina. At first bite, the fish pieces may even seem slightly sweet, but this sensation quickly fades, transforming into the refined juices of white fish. Lightly pickled red cabbage adds a crunchy texture, a perfect touch to contrast with the softness of the fish;
– the “Cochinita Pibil” tacos (€7.90) with chili and orange marinated pork are pure delight. The golden pork cracklings add a bold crunch, and the meat itself resembles slightly sweet marmalade. Paired with red onion and lime, it’s a true “precious gem”;
– reasonable prices and generous portions are easy to share between two people;
– smiling and fast service. The waitstaff’s shirts read “Good tacos – good people,” and you can see that these words ring true.
Cons:
– there are none.
