There’s no other way to describe walking into Club Palma, other than being launched into an explosion of colour. The kind that makes you feel like you’ve popped open a bag of skittles and you don’t know which one to choose first (or maybe that’s just me). Either way, it’s impossible to dispute that Club Palma, is both a kaleidoscope of colour fused into a stylish concept store, that suits the hip surroundings of Santa Catalina to perfection. Located on the perennially popular Carrer Sant Magí, it is filled with wall to wall gorgeousness. So much so, that I would gladly hand over my salary to them every month, if it wasn’t for a pesky thing called a mortgage.
The masterminds behind Club Palma are Amanda and Albert. Amanda has Swedish roots, but was raised in Mallorca having studied Fashion Design in the UK. Whereas Albert is from Barcelona, where he studied Fine arts. With those credentials, and keen eye for all things made in good taste, they’re a match made in aesthetically pleasing heaven. They founded Club Palma not to be your bang average ‘home shop’, but to bring together interesting design trends from around the world, whilst embracing all things playful and original.
Most importantly, it’s a place to showcase the wares of local and homegrown talents, whether that be via ceramics, artwork, or a quirky candlestick that you can’t bear to leave on the shelf — Club Palma supports and nurtures local talent from the island, enabling them to share their creativity with locals, and visitors alike. Looking for a house warming gift? They’ve got you covered. Birthday cards? Check. It can’t just be me who finds it nigh on impossible to find a cute little notebook or a thank you card on la isla? If so, call off the search, as Club Palma has them in spades. It also worth noting that while we live in an age where most things now feel so trend-led thanks to the likes of Tik Tok, Club Palma bypasses fads, by stocking pieces from a broad range of artisans and designers, including my own personal favourite, Hotel Magique — two prints of which are currently on my list to Santa Claus.
Store owner Albert shared, “supporting small businesses on the island is essential, since it is then only way to weave together the fabric of society and the people who make up our local community”.
With Christmas edging nearer faster than you can say ‘mulled wine’, spend your money wisely and support a small biz that puts the heart, into art.
