Artist Andrea Amelung moves to Mallorca

‘I have spent time in Mallorca over the past 40 years. Many vacations, family and artistic periods have been spent on this island.

When life changed for me, I reviewed where I was, and where I wanted to be. I am a successful painter, photographer, and sculptor. I was based in Berlin with my own large gallery, I exhibited my work and supported emerging artists. My work had been featured in solo exhibitions nationally, as well as in Italy, Austria, the United States, China, Spain, the Netherlands, and Monaco. My style is contemporary abstract-expressionist and reflects local conditions, global developments, environmental issues, natural forces, transience, and decay.

You will soon get to see my work as I am exhibiting in Palma in December 2024.

Everyone talks of the light and the great conditions for inspiration in Mallorca.  For me that is certainly true, but after experiencing seismic change I wanted to live in a place which inspires and envelops me. I know the island well, but living and creating a new Art Gallery here is a very big adventure.  A lifetime of worldwide travel did not prepare me for relocation in the true sense of the word.  I have moved on from my Art Gallery in Berlin and I am now looking at new locations in Palma.

I am a Human of Mallorca with 40 years of knowledge of this island.  I see myself in those terms, and am excited, apprehensive, and thrilled about the new possibilities.

My exhibition will be at ‘Muse’.  This is a great 300 m2 gallery space in Palma which will represent my work well. My new future is just beginning, and I look forward to sharing it with other Humans of Mallorca sharing 2024 with me.’
