How do you top that? An idyllic childhood in the Mediterranean, in Mallorca. Sunshine for 300 days of the year plus a swimming pool in the back garden. A small international school where everyone knew each other. Musical theatre hobbies and friendships all over the small island. Freedom to roam and embrace the night life of a hot climate. Summer fiestas and dancing in the street till 6 am was the norm for every summer weekend. Family life of walks in the mountains, trips to idyllic beaches, barbecues, and Sunday chill out days.
How do you top that, when you pack your case and head for the University of Sussex and English University life. A roller coaster three years of communal living and using English instead of Spanish as a first language. No golden sands in Brighton but many pebbles and a great vibe.
How do you top that, when you head for the London scene with Uni friends to live your best life in the urban city setting of London’s East End? The challenge of the first job and earning enough to pay a London rent. Reality sets in and dreams of Mallorca and those golden childhood years are all very unsettling.
Visits home are so important and Christmas holds a special place. Summer trips to work on the tan and family life, plus the return at Christmas is sacrosanct.
Meanwhile its Brixton which is the favoured part of London, with a partner now. Moving into a different stage of life. Lucia knows that Mallorca is home, and she will return often. The plan is to earn enough to buy her own base on the island and spend more and more time here in the future.
