‘How many minutes does each day have and can I compose a verse or two as I go’. This is the mantra of Rachel, a Human of Mallorca for over twenty years, originally from Liverpool.
A head full of creative ideas which has sparked the interest of TV companies and book publishers. Poetry of words and pictures in the photographic artistic stream which sees her publishing pictures to accompany her everyday life. Rachel has followers of her journey through Mallorca. Many who actively want to follow her footsteps. ‘Blip’ is the medium they follow her on, and she tells her tales daily.
‘Great real Rach’ she would say. ‘All these ideas won’t pay the bills to live my family life in Mallorca. I’d better open a laundry’. Her highly academic family thought she had taken leave of her senses, but Rachel’s Laundry exists in spite of them all. What poetry is there watching the sheets in the washing machine or sonnets composed over a hot iron.
There is much inspiration in all the people she meets discussing washing every day.
Kids, dogs, village scene, learning the language and just being part of the great experiment called life, is what gets her up in the morning. Science is important and in early days she taught it in the private schools of Mallorca. An academic adventure awaits her round every curve but so does getting home at night to cook the tea for her ravenous boys. Throw in the dog and you have the picture.
Rachel arrived in Mallorca on holiday and never left. Love, marriage, maternity and divorce followed and now the laundry. There really is satisfaction in keeping everything clean for all her friends who are her customers. Everyone loves this Human of Mallorca who nurtures them all.
