“A fine education in the University of Salamanca brought me to Deia, young, free and at the end of my exams. My home in Leon is a different vibe and I was ready for sun and the life in a different world. I had the time of my life in those two weeks. I met an old man in a bar, and he told me I would be back. ‘When Deia enters your soul, it is impossible to say no’.
I thought of his words over the years as my career and language learning choices took me on a timeline of travel. London, first stop, to perfect my English, have a great time and meet Brigitta, my partner. We both worked in the same smart hotel.
Next stop Rome for a six-month placement to perfect my Italian. Then back home to Leon for more Business studies and then to Brussels for a master’s degree in European law.
Mallorca was calling me. My friend from Deia was right and I went for a holiday and stayed a season working in the Residencia. Then work and the French language called me to Paris. By this stage I had left my heart in Mallorca, and I knew I would be returning to become a Human of Mallorca with, deep roots.
In 2016 we arrived and headed for Santa Catalina and lived our best life, on the island which had got it all for me. If you ’get’ Mallorca’ you will know what I mean.
Settled now in Alaro village life and working in central Palma. I have the best of all worlds every day. I share my joy of this island with art lovers who come to my Gallery Red in Palma looking for fine works to hang on their pristine white walls. There is huge interest in large art works for the fine houses and apartments on this island. I love to chat to them in whatever language they choose. My early years desire to learn as many languages as I could is a great benefit to me, in multicultural Mallorca.
I knew I would live my best life in Mallorca. It took a few years to get here but a proud Human of Mallorca”.
